3D: A Fad that Died in the 80’s Returns from the Grave

I’m not going to pretend like I remember what it was like in the 80’s when new movies were released in theaters in 3D. I actually got the worst side of it, seeing these movies on VHS years later, forced to sit and watch a yo-yo dangle precariously above the camera in a kind of “whoooaaa watch out, it might hit you!” moment that someone once thought would be awesome. I can understand why films like Friday the 13th part 3 and Jaws 3D were made that way. It was cutting edge at the time, a way to immerse the audience in the film like never before. Plus, no one actually saw those films so it was OK to experiment. The big flaw was that the filmmakers didn’t think ahead beyond the theater. Home entertainment hadn’t developed much so there was no reason to plan for it. Now here we are 25 years later, forced to relive this bad idea in our own homes. (more…)

There’s something to be said for chicks who are naturally hot without having to lift, tuck, and stuff themselves full of plastic. It seems that, lately, a lot of television shows have been throwing the spotlight on women that manage to attract attention without the help of Hollywood’s best doctors. In some cases, they play cute, fun characters. In others they’re badass chicks that wouldn’t think twice before kicking the crap out of you.
