One of the first stories we posted on Average Dudes was about the Writers Strike last year. It was a devastating time in the lives of Americans. With a lack of new, original shows to watch, weeknights became mundane…some poor dudes were even forced to read or have conversations with their spouses. It’s a time I’d like to forget completely. I promise I’m not that big of a Terminator fan. I 
Last night was the untimely finale of one of the only decent shows left since the WGA took a vacation. Of course, leading up to it, all the promotion billed this finale as a huge deal with an explosive ending and other assorted TV buzzwords. When the show ended though, it was painfully obvious that they did not mean this to be the end of the season. They couldn’t even show a teaser for next season because they have no more footage.
Generally speaking, everyone feels pretty similarly when it comes to advertisements. Sure, there are some funny commercials that people talk about and enjoy, but a commercial break is usually a good reason to exercise the fast-forward button on a DVR remote. For advertisers, the popularity of DVRs and the increased usage of the internet as a media portal has forced creative thinking in terms of how to get their messages to the masses. For consumers, that means some seriously annoying and potentially frightening assaults on other aspects of our daily lives.
