AppleTV1Apple has always had a stranglehold on the music industry with their iTunes Store. Their latest target: Hollywood. They upped the ante at this year’s Macworld conference when they introduced movie rentals through the iTunes Store. Users can now rent from a growing collection of movies from all of the major studios on their computers and transfer them to their iPod or iPhone. That alone is pretty cool, but what really makes this a huge deal is Apple’s often overlooked Apple TV and its ability to rent many of those movies in HD. (more…)

American Gladiators - I Can’t Wait for the Writers Strike to End

Crush-GladiatorYou know the fate of television is in trouble when they decide they have to resurrect one of the dumbest shows in history to try to attract viewers. January 6th, 2008 brings the re-premier of American Gladiators, the physical competition show that pits amateur athletes against each other and against a group of steroid junkies “gladiators” with such awesome names as “Justice,” “Militia,” and “Hellga.” You can’t make this crap up. Review - Apple iPod Shuffle

iPod Shuffle 1I am a huge fan of Apple products. With each new product release, I have to try to justify why I need it so that I don’t feel guilty when I cave in and buy it. With the release of the redesigned iPod shuffle, I found myself in quite a predicament. I loved the new design, but I already had four iPods (yes, 4) so how could i possibly justify getting a fifth? Screw You NBC, We Have Hockey and Canadian Programming

Canadian iTunes

In not so gripping news, Apple announced that iTunes:Canada will now be selling TV programming. So our Canadian friends will no longer have to be without their favorite shows. Apple gave a short list of available shows which includes NHL Games of the Year, Instant Star, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Robson Arms.

I can surely sleep easy tonight.

Let me just say that I am a massive Foo Fighters fan. Granted, when I first saw their video for Big Me, I thought they were a band of gay dudes. Give me a break…I was like 11. After hearing their second album, “The Colour and the Shape,” however, I promptly gave myself 30 lashings for my sins and learned how to play Monkey Wrench on guitar. (more…)
