The North Face ETip Gloves
Let’s face it, it’s damn cold outside. Even here in Orlando, the low tonight will be right around 30 degrees. As a lover of cold weather, sometimes I like to venture out into the frigid air all bundled up. As an iPhone user, however, gloves can be pretty annoying, forcing me to make a choice: freeze my fingers but be able to quickly use my phone, or wear gloves and have to constantly remove them to type an email or answer a call.
These North Face ETip gloves don’t require such a decision. The tips of the thumbs and index fingers are covered in their special “X-Static” material which makes them touchscreen friendly. Plus, they’re North Face, so you know they’re good. $40 and they’re yours.

North Face products actually make it fun to go outside. I’m a Floridian, and a huge cold weather wuss. I hate the numbness you get in your extremities as they freeze.
I took a North Face jacket and sleeping bag with me to Nepal a few years ago. I was there for three weeks. I never saw any heating device more advanced than a fire in the courtyard. During the day, I was hiking through the mountains. The thin air and altitude meant there was little between you and the sun. The coat and sleeping bag combined were less than 15lbs. Every pound counts when it’s strapped to your back all day.
At night, the temps dropped through the floor. As soon as the sun went down, all the heat disappeared. I slept in my mummy bag next to a fountain in a courtyard. When I woke up the next morning, the water was frozen 3 inches thick… and I was loving life in my sleeping bag. Getting out of it to get dressed was not fun.
I’ve used the coat on a few winter day hikes, and during the ‘00 inauguration. It is comfortable, light, and versatile. There is room to put layers underneath, but all the important parts let you adjust the fit to keep out drafts.
I can see why people who have to deal with REAL cold on a regular basis like their stuff so much.
Its going to get down to 29 degrees here tonight…

Wow, that’s one hell of an endorsement. I just recently started liking their stuff. We were at Disney the other day and you couldn’t walk 10 feet without seeing at least 5 people wearing some kind of North Face sweater. I went and bought on and I freakin’ love it. It doesn’t keep wind out so well, but it’s extremely light and when it’s layered with other stuff, it’s really warm.
